The Kindle, Amazon's new electronic reading device, uses 'electronic paper' and 'electronic ink' which is a new display technique that needs only energy to build a new page. It does not need any energy to keep the page readable, unlike LCD and TFT displays, but it needs incident light from the sun or a lamp, like a real book. This gives these type of reading devices a long working live on one battery charge.
Amazon's Kindle has another benefit: it uses Amazon wireless Whispernet for free to download eBooks and ePapers. This content, however, is not always free. More information on Wiki."
